High-ranking Central Command officer sees attacks lasting for months, doesn't rule out further escalation; Ya'alon: Israel will expand West Bank fence.01:56 26.11.15 | 1 comments
This is too early in Labor's recovery. It is a historic moment for the Labor party. All the MKs are social democrats with credentials to prove it (except perhaps Ben-Eliezer). The opportunists are out of there, and the lesson of where opportunism leads is clear to all. The potential for New Labor is great, and the revived party has some time to convince the voters of its sincerity (since elections are now far off). Barak has done an enormous favor to the Left by exorcising himself out of the sick body. The rest of the western world has parties divided according to capitalistic/social-democratic lines, and Labor therefore has a large potential group of voters. Whoever is chosen as Leader will need to prove his and the party's sincerity, and I assume this will be done over time. As far as Yachimovich, she is a lone wolf, not a leader, and I doubt she will be the leader. On the other hand, Braverman's low esteem by the public makes him less likely to be elected. I bet on Herzog. He is also young and his election will indicate a "new day" for Labor. The Renaissance of this grand old party of Israel is only beginning.
