The only reason Aipac has any power is because Americans tend to support Israel. Do you know why? Aside from evangilicals and Jews, there is a simple reason they do. It is not because of any affinity for Jews; its not because, rightly or wrongly, that they view Israel as a democracy; its not because they are ingorant and don't know that Israel has built illegal settlments and oppresses Palestinians.("If they only knew what we know, why don't they understand"); it's not because they are stupid and don't know that the US gives Israel aid every year. It's because they harbor very negative attitudes to the Arab world, based on their own observations;(Not because Israel has hypnotized them); based on what they read, see and hear, and it goes way beyond what is happening in Palestine. The Afghan recent riots are only the latest example. Go ahead, demonize Israel and Jews all you want; make it your lives work if you want. You'd be better off using your blog and websites to change attitudes towards the Arab world. Pretty tall order but have at it.
