According to international observers, the Palestinian (west bank) economy and institutions can support an independent state, if they continue to recieve a lot of financial aid. A remarkable positive achievement. However, Abbas has decided to refuse all compromises and go to the Security Council now. The zealots will applaud. As a result of Abbas's decision the Palestinian economy and institutions will most probably implode from a lack of external financial aid. Who cares if stomachs are empty? Not the zealots and the politicians who pander to them. Statesmen care, but they are not to be found in the Middle East.
