Zach's unfortunate remarks echo much of what was widespread public opinion in Israel over a long period of time. The poet ought to apologize but an official boycott of his poetry is not the answer. The cultural backgrounds of both East and West call for appreciation rather than comparison (by whose standards?) and denigration.
