These organizations know much more about helping people with dignity than the government. Jews help each other, especially during the holidays. We don't need the government to perform this mitzvah. If you want to know about treating people without dignity, try dealing with Bituach Leumi. I would rather starve than have to suffer the abuse from the (mostly) heartless people that work there. Their jobs are to look for reasons NOT to help people and save the government money. All those people here complaining should be happy that these organizations help with other people's money, not your tax money. Lastly, the government has no right to tell me or anyone else that we cannot give charity. Donors can check out any charity before they give and make their own decision about giving. We don't need big brother to decide for us.
