There has been a major joint initiative by Saudi and Syria to prevent any destabilization of Lebanon. The alliance was sealed at a Summit between Abdullah and Assad last July. Saudi, a supporter of Hariri, and Syria, a nation which Hisbollah is absolutely dependent upon have made it absolutely clear that if Hisbollah acts up when the indictments go down Hisbollah will find itself isolated physically and politically. Hisbollah would face a common front composed of the Lebanese Government's army, Christian, Sunni and Druze militias. Hisbollah would have to devise some other way to smuggle arms and munitions than through Syria. I can understand that Ashkenazi the sleaze that has slimed the IDF promotion system under his rule, and the need to keep the Israeli people in a constant state of paranoia. I cannot understand why Haaretz has not covered the Saudi/Syrian initiative which has received extensive coverage in the Lebanese and other regional press.
