In the 1980s I took the Egged Bus Tour of the Golan Heights and I, along with the tour guide, were shocked at the wildlife that we got to see. It was like a scene from an African documentary. Huge herds of deer, gazelles, wild boar, and flocks of birds. That was one tourist attraction that no one ever talks about. My theory was that at that time there were still large mine fields up there, keeping the animals safe from the people.
