My question goes to Hawking's sincerity in accepting the invitation to appear at the President's Conference in the first place. Certainly he is no stranger to the region and its conflicts. I'm having trouble swallowing that pulling out of the conference wasn't part of his plan from the outset. Was he actually persuaded to reneg or was this a clever bit of choreography? Just asking.
