You assume Zionism was a reaction to the Holocaust and that it was primarily a European yearning. In actuality Jews from around the world, binded not by religion simply but by nationhood, have yearned to return to the land for millenia. Certainly there are complicating factors, but you frame it as if Europe was the only place the Jews were persecuted. I'm not attempting to justify wrong doing to the Arabs in the region, but your perspective is constrained by only one, albeit the biggest, expression of Jew-hatred, when it occurred time and time again and continues to this day.
