I am glad Israel has enough reporters and commentators who view matters from various perspectives. This is a healthy symptom of a free and democratic society, which Israel is. Having said the above, however, does not mean that either Levy or Hass view and write their reports and commentaries within the proper context. In fact, they do not. Both, it appears, report, and write polemically, always, always critical of this horible terrible no good state of the Jews, but rarely if ever do they report and comment with any degree of appreciation about why things are the way they describe them to be. Are there forces outside of Israel that may be the cause of the reality as they perceive it? Are there positive steps that Israel has taken, never to be receiprocated by its neighbors? In fact, is there anything good in this society of ours, from whose economic and political freedom they benefit? Greater perspective is called for in order for me to truly appreciate their commentaries.
