If Peres really cared about making peace and the future of Israel, he would ignore the niceties of his diplomatic position and make the greatest no-holds barred speech of his life, attacking Israel's increasing ultra-nationalism and racism. At his time of life he has little to lose. Does he really want to be remembered as the politician and stateman who chose to sit on the fence? Better that an Israeli-Jew tried to curb Israel's terrible excesses, then Arab weaponry.
