You are right about the Kurds and the Americans. The injustice they experienced and still experience is not an argument for Palestinians to have no right to stay where they have been living for generations. What did Barak anf Olmert offer? Barak lost all the support he needed to make real concessions and Olmert run away to bomb Gaza. Land is neither taken from Jordan or Palestine, land is taken from farmers, families who have been living on their land for hundreds of years. It is a very human reaction to object to a proposal which is taken without consulting those who are concerned and for these people to accept being expelled from their land. If one wants peace, one could at least find words of understanding and regret. However, Israeli greedy policy is to take as much as possible and show only indifference and apathy towards the Palestinians. People do not forfeit their rights because they were given an offer they could not accept. We have international conventions, human rights conventions which need to be observed even by Americans and Israelis. Unfortunately, double standards are still prevailing.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
