Many scientists are increasingly worried that in a few years, the worldwide oil production will simply reach a peak. In other words, even with more money it will become increasingly difficult to find and extract new oil, and at the same time the actual daily production will actually start decreasing progressively. In particular, even though Iran has a lot of oil and gas underground, in a few years the oil production of Iran is expected to reach a peak (mostly oil, not gas yet) also, and from this peak, their daily oil production will actually decline. As a result, Iran does not have any choice: it must gain access to nuclear weapons so that it can hold on to the oil fields of Saudi Arabia after it takes over the Eastern part of Saudi Arabia where the oil fields are located. Thanks to the pro-Iranian Shiite majority in the Eastern part of Saudi Arabia and its superior conventional military, Iran can certainly take Saudi oil fields, but without nukes as deterrent, it cannot keep it.
