Kerry will attempt to convince Israel to accept the 1967 borders in return for recognition by the Arab countries. The 1967 borders would place all of Israel within range of conventional weapons, with no need for nuclear weapons to carry out the threat of destruction of Israel. There is one very significant aspect of the so-called "peace" discussions that is never discussed, and that is the Islamic doctrine of death to infidels. Muslim clerics have made clear, with their Fatwas, that the doctrine applies to Christians and Jews. While Western leaders never even take note of the doctrine, Muslims take it quite seriously. The two major branches of Islam, the Sunnis and the Shiites, have been killing each other for centuries, because each considers the other to be infidels. That killing continues to this day, in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Mali, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon and Syria, to name just a few of the affected countries. It is the root cause of today's Islamic terrorism. One thing that the Sunnis and the Shiites agree on is the "death to the Jews" doctrine. If Kerry, Obama, the United States, anyone, wants Israel to return to the 1967 borders in return for the promise of peace with the Muslim countries, the promise of peace should include a formal renunciation of the Islamic doctrine of death to Jews, Christians and infidels. It should include a requirement that the Muslim clerics who have issued so many Fatwas demanding death to Jews, Christians and infidels issue Fatwas absolutely renouncing the doctrine and forbidding attacks on Israel. No Western leader has ever had the courage to even raise the issue. Perhaps Kerry will be the first.
