There will never be "peace" so long as Israelis such as yourself maintain the delusion "no matter how hard we try" means anything while maintaining a brutal occupation and discrimination at the same time. What has been Israel's great "offer"? Camp David? Show me that offer! The offer from Pal. for full recognition of Israel has been re-iterated for decades in exchange for full withdrawal, in Saudi Plan 2002, for one example only. Israel will not take "yes" for an answer. I have never met such heavily indoctrinated people in my life - and I have been to both Israel and Palestine plus 30 countries, and have close family in Israel. This oppression offers neither Israelis or Palestinians any future. It must be broken- and will be.
