Arafat and Abbas have many years demanded that the borderline should be 1967 line plus right of return. At first, right of return would mean that nobody but jews live in the west bank, UN 242 requires borders to be negoatiated between Israel and the parties of the war. Jordan did not want to negotiate any more than their peace agreement with Israel. As it is today Abbas waits to get internationnal approval for 1967 borders and this prevents any useful peace agreement. When 242 was made 1967 borders suggested by arabs were rejected by UN as the border but nobody seem to care about it, not US, not EU, not Ban Ki-moon and even NOT ISRAELI GOVERNEMENT. The bottom was Olmert's proposal , how many percent remains to Israel, only a fraction of required secure borders. 242 requires secure borders and at first IDF should determined what these borders should be and negotiations based on that. Before reaching an agreement with pals Israel legally controls WB. It is jewish homeland based on 1922 decisions by League of Nations which nobody has cancelled. Israel should make a lot of propaganda of UN resolution of secure borders and proove that only problem in preventing agreement are pals who don't want to negotiate on any reasonable basis confirmed by UN.
