1) Jonathan Pollard's actions...however well-meaning...were a betrayal of his country and his oath of office. The fact that the info was passed to an "ally" is irrelevant. 2) The fact that others who committed similar offenses received lesser punishment tells me that their sentences were too short...and not that Pollard's is too long.
