Only the naive and blind would say Palestinians have painted themselves in a corner. Israel and America have though. After George Bush, America's status was terrible World wide and especially in the Middle East due to Iraq. It was Obama's task to repair that. He started well and showed promise. The Peace Process being part of it. Israel rejected much of that process and in fact reneged on its commitments under that process by failing to embrace fundamentals of it like settlement freezes as it had signed agreement to in 2003 and refusing to discuss borders based on 1967......all part of the process. American policy was against illegal settlements and Israel dug in and made a mockery of the whole process. Abbas has taken the initiative and decided to take Israel and America screaming into negotiations in a well thought out of the box strategy, Can't you here the whining children Israel and America...Either you want peace or you don't. Either you support two states or you don't. You both say you do so suck it up and get on with it but don't blame Abbas.

from the article: Abbas has shown Israel he is not like Arafat
