Surely the emergence of so many different ultra orthodox rabbis with their unquestioning followers is creating a splintering within that "closed" orthodox community anyway. The dynastic rabbis who inherit a congregation, or following, from their fathers have an even narrower definition to defend from all comers. So that part of Judaism is getting more and more concentrated within itself. Maybe there is a point beyond which followers will not go, and will start questioning? The tragedy is that so many people will be "blinded" before any turnaround can take place. A superbly written piece. Of course the usual personal attacks will be launched by fervent talk-backers but it remains a pleasure to read such good writing.
