    Nothing positive will come out of Annapolis; at most, it will not cause some real damage such as the eruption of a new Intifada. The US did not put any pressure on Olmert to compromise, which would have countered the Lieberman/Shas pressure not to yield anything, so Annapolis will end up as an empty gesture to the world. Does it mean that Israel should not show up? we can't do that and anger Bush. The US planned it, the US undermined it (by inaction), so let them cancel it or do with it whatever they want. It is their show. As it happens, the US is led by its most incompetent leader in many years, certainly in the posy-WW2 era; Israel is led by its weakest leader ever; and Abbas is also the weakest leader since the PLO became representative of all Palestinians. This does not bode well for the success of the present peace process. On Israel's side Olmert believes that after Annapolis he will be able to get into real negotiations with the Palestinians. As if Lieberman does not have his own plans on how to empty the coming negotiations from any real content. Let the sides keep talking until the 3 leaders are washed out of the system. The year 2009 is when this can happen, and Olmert may be eliminated even earlier.
