A nation which once had competent leaders and a good government lacks both now. At the root of both problems seems to be that the ad hoc legal framework and government structure adopted in desperation during the War of Independence has devolved into dysfunction. Israelis are capable of working out this problem I am certain. I am also certain that the third-rate hacks and tin-pot demagogues who are currently running the country are incapable of acting in the nation's interest because to do so would leave them unemployed.
