Much of what you say is correct - the current US administration should have reached out more directly to ordinary Israelis, by-passing the hawkish Israeli leadership in the process. This may well have made a difference. But that doesn't mean that many Israelis are opposed to Obama not because he has ignored them, but because he genuinely represents a direct threat to the status quo from which they benefit materially. Do not write this off.
