I watched Israel take heavy casualties to avoid civilian deaths at Jenin. That was the world's most moral army in action. And it was paying the price. Something has changed and it is obvious to any perspicacious observer. It was obvious to Judge Goldstone and he detailed in a most clinical and legal manner. I have seen lots of accusations but I have seen no one make a credible refutation of Judge Goldstone's work. I first deemed this the knee-jerks of lazy people. It is clear there is something deeper, darker and more disgusting at work. There is much about the contents of the Goldstone Report which brings erie comparison to the Stroop Report, except written for justice instead of evil. If Israel wishes to be what it did in Cast Lead it may. No one can stop it. But it is hard to respect what Israel has been becoming over the last decade. Israel has unquestioned right to self-defense. But if it wants to keep claiming the mantel of morality it will have to resume practicing it.
