Israel has become a state driven by a religious and nationalist ideology to own as much of the land as possible between the Med and the Jordan and to have as few Arabs as possible living on that land. Israelis and diaspora Jews either support this or don't care enough to devote time to understanding what is happening. For diaspora Jews, in particular, there is a major "disconnect" between understanding how we as a minority group expect to be protected by our own states, yet disregard what is happening to another minority group under Israeli control.
