"Should that weasel Abdul Rauf be permitted by the city to build his monument to jihad in that location? Yes. One of the core founding principles of America is pluralism. Everybody has the right to express their beliefs, no matter how twisted they may be. Of course, that does not mean fellow citizens have to like it. People tend to despise foreign occupiers. This jihadist monument being built on occupied territory will be a constant reminder to Americans of who the enemy is. Ground Zero quickly became just a pile of rubble — a space filled with nothingness. This mosque is going to put a face on that nothingness. It will demonstrate to Americans the mentality that drives people like Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar to kill in the name of religion. A videotape left by the terrorists who carried out the Madrid train bombing included the words “You love life, but we love death.” Perhaps this mentality explains the decision to celebrate Islam on the mass grave that is Ground Zero. This is the kind of enemy we will have to deal with."
