Is it not a bit naive to expect President Barak, or his representatives to exercise, "consideration of the possibility that the administration failed in doing requisite preparation with Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak". The American intelligence community knows very well just how hard Israeli Leaders have work, or not worked, for peace. It is not entirely reasonable, as well, for Mr. Burston to accuse Mr. Siegman of hating Israelis. I am an Israeli, and I do not find it difficult or incongruous to love my country and my people while hating the policies of the the current government which panders to the right-wing settlers. The peace process has been underway, sometimes in first gear, sometimes in reverse, for 42 years. Only during the administration of Yitzhak Rabin was I convinced the the Israeli government was seriously considering meaningful compromises which might lead to a equitable peace. Judicious application of outside pressure is evidently called for.
