I think I was the only person in the whole cinema (an artsy inner-Sydney cinema, not in a Jewish area) who had any idea of what was going on in this film! A totally different world, far removed from Sydney and vastly different to the nominally Orthodox (but very secular) Jewish community in which I grew up here (there was not even a Conservative shul in Sydney until very recently). Sure I understood the Hebrew and Jewish references but the film didn't really resonate and everone else was perplexed.
