"Segev is one of those who has more sympathy, human feeling for Israel's enemies, than for Israel." (Shalom Freedman) "The occupation (of the Palestinian territories) and of the Syrian Golan must end." Prof. Elie Barnavi, of Tel-Aviv University, and former Israeli Ambassador to France, answering readers' questions, on the Nouvel Observateur website, in December 2004. http://forum.nouvelobs.com/archives/forum_202.html I bet there will be, some day, somewhere, some feebleminded rightists, to castigate a former Israeli Ambassador for having "more sympathy, human feeling for Israel's enemies" than for his own country. Shalom Freedman is one of those who have a lot more sympathy for Eretz-Israel that for Medinat Israel. And this is the basis of his slanders against all those who believe the settlement enterprise on occupied territories to have been a "huge and foolish enterprise, thwarting any agreement on a two-states solution." (See "The settlers are not resting", Haaretz, 04/10/2006.)
