Olmert is willing to talk to the Saudis, they are in the "moderate" camp. Olmert is NOT willing to talk to the Syrians; they are not in the moderate camp. Olmert is NOT willing to talk to the Palestinians. Their government includes Hamas, the non-moderates, so everybody there is tainted. Olmert is willing to talk to Abbas, because he is a moderate, but he will not negotiate with him a peace deal because Olmert insists that a deal should also be negotiated by the government, but they are not moderate! The bottom line is that, so far, Olmert is not willing to negotiate peace. I suppose the reason is that Olmert is not willing to pay the price he knows will have to be paid. For example, no matter which regime rules Syria, they will want the Golan, and will eventually get it. Why not negotiate with the present regime? They support Hamas and Hizballah. Oops, the Saudis also give money to Hamas? Yes, they give money, but do they harbor Hamasniks? And do they support Hizballah? No! You see? My bet is, the Saudis will not want to talk with Olmert. Why should they? Just to allow him to show that he is doing something about peace while doing nothing?
