Olmert is only a symptom of a much larger disfunction in the Israeli political system: that foreign policy is always the focus. It's obvious to anybody with common sense that foreign policy is a very important field for Israel, but as long as it remains the one and only focus of political campaigns there will be no improvement. Behind the smoke and mirrors of the unsolvable "peace process" or "terrorist threat" lie very real social and economic problems - problems that are far more crucial to people's daily lives. Most importantly, these are problems that can actually be solved. Switching the focus will put the spotlight on all the thieves that are filling this political void.
