That Olmert is doing the best he can under the circumstances is not only not good enough but a dereliction of his duty. His responsibility is to immediately and unambiguopusly defuse a highly volatile situation of his own creation. A kidnapping of a military person is not a terror act by any stretch of imagination. What Israel has done is an act of state terror par exellance. Whatever happens from now on is just not in Israel's best interest. Olmert in his first 100 has talked much (mostly unimportant and forgetable) and has done nothing of value. Thus far- ONE BIG F.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
