I give my right arm that either of the the scenarios will happen: (1) No contact of any degree of serious will ever take place; or (2) There will be some furtive contacts before Israel declares that the other side is not seriious. By way of justification something major will "happen," such as a sudden skirmish with Syria or 7izballah. Sorry but Olmert and - especially - Livni have shown time and again that they are interested in nothing except holding on to their seats. First of all, they don't even have the mandate from the Israeli public (which despises them) to negotiate anything in our name. Secondly, they've spurned each and every one of the dozen or more overtures extended by everyone from Morocco, to Lebanon, to Qatar, to Pakistan. Thirdly, they don't have the will or courage to tackle the minority settler brigade at home; how would they have the gravitas to do something on the world stage?? These claims are stillborn. Forget it. mls.lists@btinternet.com
