Israel's Foreign Ministry ordered to 'reassess' EU involvement with Palestinians after decision to label West Bank goods; 'decision is almost completely devoid of any real significance,' official says.23:15 29.11.15 | 17 comments
Annapolis has surpassed all marks for low expectations in a peace summit. This is the first peace talk in world history where one side (Israel) has come to the table saying that they would not even discuss any of the obstacles to peace. Then why is Israel coming to the table at all? Becuase they are forced to, of course. Their cover story is that they want to establish an agreement of what they would hope to accomplish somday if this was a perfect world. Sadly, even this purely ornamental issue will elude resolution. At Annapolis nothing can happen other than promises, which are meant to be broken later. This understanding has gotten Olmert really enthusiastic about the process. These promises can be hailed as a breakthrough in the peace process, and later, when they don't materialize, people can say, "Oh well, what did you expect?"
