There is a peculiarity in this story which is not explained, but which is there nonethless as a thread. It is the relationship between Yvette and the settlement movement, and Yvette and God. It is not an unknown phenomenon that Jewish businessmen who do well often do so at the expense of their moral probity. And to off-set that, to make themselves feel better about their immorality, they chummy up to Jewish religious experts, rabbis and Jewish sects, giving generously to them - usually from their ill-gotten fund- in the belief that rubbing shoulders with such people will absolve them of their sins.
