this is the silliest thing I've ever read! Leaving the definition of Judaism in the hand of the religious! Who else is going to define a religion but the religious leaders? I certainly hope this writer doesnt think its the 60's or 70's where folks are still wondering if Judaism is a religion or nationality. Israeli is a nationality, Judiasm is a religion - we settled that one quite a while ago. Can an Israeli writer seriously be telling the diaspora about seclusion and seperatism - seriously. Thats the whole idea of Israel...to create a seperate nation state for the Jewish people (which of course isnt a people, but a religion). Thats funny. If it were a respectable newspaper I'd be surprise...but its haaretz so its ok.
