At some point a poker player has to show his or her cards. What are Netanyahu and his merry band of extremists holding?: enforcement of their will on a subject population by military force. That's not a good hand to play, particularly as an apparently permanent strategy. It had to fail and it will. A peaceful resolution of the conflict, including, of course, an absolute shutdown of Hamas' belligerent acts is ineluctable. Whether it's over or not, it is, indeed over because of the political courage being shown by the Obama administration. I disagree with Mr. Pfeffer's characterization of our foreign policy as "inept," but that's too much for this small venue.
