you cite the 'civilizing' effect of the british raj on india as an exemplar of monotheism's superior efficacy? i doubt whether the countless millions who lived under the british boot would agree. for sure, the british materially improved the country with railroads & other infrastructure - but this was done to better exploit the land for its benefit. and, sati was a largely voluntary institution - grim, yes, but no different than suicides amongst surviving spouses in other lands. as for the shortcomings of the communist experiments in ussr, china & cuba, i would say that their failures are relatively new - with scarcely 90 yrs of history - while the span of monotheism's failures are measured in millenia.
