The Republic of Cyprus claims that Turkey occupies part of its territory. It managed to have UN resolutions supporting this claim. For this reason, it has traditionally supported UN resolution against the Israeli occupation of the territories and supports Palestinian statehood. Recently, it voted for the Palestinian membership to Unesco. For Cyprus to change this policy, it would be like shooting itself on the foot. So Bibi can get deals about gas, but better not ask the Cypriots to support his occupation games. If they are smart, the Cypriots will not even allow a military cooperation to develop. They have nothing to gain from it.
