It seems that a lot of people here are obsessed with the holocaust. Even though it was an unprecedented period, the likes of which were not seen before and hopefully will never be again, one gets the impression that certain elements in Israeli society, the PM especially, seem to get some dubious benefit out of "monopolizing" it in front of the international community. This is wrong and also insensitive to the suffering of other nations. No-one here teaches about the suffering of other nations - all those soldiers and civilians who died in WW2 because of the nazi ideology, only the ghettos and camps are referred to. Jews were not the only victims, but no-one mentions the others. Also, all Jews from Arabic-speaking countries weren't involved in it anyway. Their religious affiliation makes them identify with it, but their parents and grandparents were not there. In short - maybe a new approach is required. Holocaust day is commemorated on Jan 27th around the world. The same should be done here. It's not necessary to have a separate shoah day as well. Netanyahu and co are exploiting the holocaust to present the Jewish nation as the eternal victim - in order to justify his dubious actions towards minorities, Palestinians etc. He should not be allowed to do that, and 5 year-olds don't need to be brainwashed either.
