Too many people whose careers/ambitions are tied to Ms Meir would suffer if her faults/failings were pointed out. If past errors were exposed it might be more difficult for present and future leaders to carry on as freely. Think of it - if Ellsberg and Watergate hadn't happened, wouldn't the US leadership be freer to act without public opposition?
