An unbelievable offer by Obama, including offers of too-long term favors which the Palestinians were likely to bitterly oppose, such as Israeli troops in the Jordan Valley, vetoing every anti-Israel decision in the UN in the coming year, exactly when pressure on Israel is needed to conclude the peace talks, or to not push for the certain need of an additional extension. If Netanyahu doesn't grab it, he must an unbelievable fool, an unbelievable weakling, or perhaps he is not inrested in the peace talks and tries to undermine them. Obama must feel desperate to have made the offer. Two months would have gotten him over the coming midterm elections, but if I were him, I would have talked to the Palestinians about continuing to mull the talks for 5 more weeks rather than lose a good pressure lever on Israel for little gain. Indeed, the Palestinians should be wiser to offer Obama to be doing just that so as to ensure that he withdraws the long list of offers to Israel.
