After all the publicity it seems the meeting will take place, and it's spin spin spin in all directions. To get to the heart of the matter, all three sides form a dysfunctional codependant triangle. Israel needs the US support, Abbas needs publicity because he is weak and has no plan, and the US needs to score a diplomatic victory, so they all take turns posing, and stamping their feet and expressing committment while no one dares to come up with a creative concession. Abbas could say shalit should be freed. Bibi should say what settlements could be handed back and disassembled, and the US should stop looking for public cheers when it has failed in diplomacy here and everywhere. There can be no forced peace, it must come by mutual agreement, and it's not happening because all the dysfunctional partners seem to get a benefit from the conflict continuuing on medium heat. That's my spin.
