An unbelievable offer by Obama, including offers of too-long term favors which the Palestinians are likely to bitterly oppose, such as Israeli troops in the Jordan Valley, vetoing every anti-Israel decision in the UN in the coming year, exactly when pressure on Israel is needed to conclude the peace talks, or to not push for the certain need of an additional extension. If Netanyahu doesn't grab it, he is an unbelievable fool or an unbelievable weakling. Obama must feel desperate to make the offer. Two months will get him over the coming midterm elections, but if I were him, I would have talked to the Palestinians about continuing to mull the talks for 5 more weeks rather than lose a good pressure lever on Israel for little gain. Indeed, the Palestinians should be wiser to offer Obama to be doing just that if he withdraws the long list of offers to Israel.
