It's good to see Obama stand up for human rights and international law. In retrospect, I think he only backed down earlier because he feaared that the Goldstone Report posed a real threat to Israel. Thus, he closed ranks and put support for Israel ahead of dealing with the spoiled, intransigent Netanyahu. Now, it's time to get back with the program. E. Jerusalem is not part of Israel any more than Kuwait was ever part of Iraq. The UN SC clearly rejected and denounced Israel's claim to have annexed it (Res. 476, 465). No country in the world, except Israel, recognizes any right of Israel to E Jerusalem or any of the W. Bank. Israel is like a thief claiming that he owns what he has stolen. It means nothing. East Jerusalem is not open for negotiation. It must be disgorged from Israel along with the WB. The only question is how high a price must be imposed before Israel accepts that it cannot commit flagrant violations of international law without consequences.
