It is interesting for an American to read Haaretz. - President Obama does not care enough about Netanyahu to want to "bring him down" - The President worries about wars in Afganistan and Iraq, to which the entire US ground force has been tied for seven or eight years. Israel is irrelevant to both struggles, except when the Israeli government does something encourages terrorists to "commit martydom acts" against US troops. That's called recruitment. - If any Israeli thinks PM Netanyau is more polular than President Obama, take a deep breath of fresh air. Americans don't know who is PM, and probably most would answer Ben Gurion, or "that heroic woman", or Ariel Sharon. Tell us the PM is "Bibi" or "Zippy", and we laugh. Americans just don't follow foreign politics that closely. - Claim that President Obama has lost his base, and you have been listening to too much Murdoch "news".
