There is a continual friction between Likud and the Democratic party in the US. The J Street line makes the most sense. As a developed nation, Israel does not need this level of US aid, period. The Republicans, who are basically in bed with the Evangelicals, expect "good Jews" to follow extreme Christian dogma. Is this what any Israeli, secular or religious wants? The Israeli government is becoming increasingly far right wing and gives in to whatever the religious parties want. Has anyone checked the Republican narrative recently? Sound familiar??
