Zippi Livni is 100% right - this is a totally unnecessary amendment to the oath of Allegiance which has existed since the state was established in 1948. My husband and children swore allegiance during their army service, Members of the Knesset are sworn in after election and the original Oath was perfectly fitting to the circumstances. It is a disgrace that these petty politicians have nothing better to do than make an amendment which will just drag us even more to the right. When will the Prime Minister get rid of this abomination of a Foreign Minister and his party and form a more central government? I am also waiting for the Labour Party to leave the government but I suppose that they are all glued to their seats as usual. Last Friday evening my extended family discussed this topic and not ONE person supported the amendment and this included people who voted for the Likud in the last elections. Where the hell are we going?
