It is staggering to see such divisiveness amongst Jewish people. Such a compact community and yet such repugnant segregation. What does it matter if someone is Ashkenazi or Sephardi? You are all Jews in the end. Segregating schoolchildren is the ugliest face of racism. To see so many people support segregation is an outright defeat of democratic values of equality. As an outsider watching this I ask myself: If there is such religious segregation among Jews themselves, how can we expect them to treat people of other religions with fairness and equality? This is a sad day for Israel indeed.
