I am a Tel-Aviv Jew. I support the Israeli army. I am sorry that world does not understand our dilemmas and does not appreciate our moral sensitivity. The IDF are not Nazis as some people believe. We Jews do not think Gentiles are dogs as some people believe. But if we listened to the Orthodox we would behave like Nazis. They want us to practice Realpolitik. The Orthodox are like hothouse flowers, the fruit of galut. I like Gemara but I want Orthodoxy to become un-fossilized and to be taught as it was taught in the great Volozhin Yeshiva in the time of Bialik and Berdichevsky. Now Orthodoxy has been dumbed-down and is concerned only with killing ARabsI want Orthodoxy to regard the Oral Law again as the product of men or as a judicial code. Christopher Columbus did not come to America under consular protection and the 19th Century crusade against the Indians did not produce blowback in the Eastern cities. Those are two reasons why the Indian argument is specious.
