In the mid 1940's the "nuclear club " was one country. In the 1950's it was three. Now the number of "declared" nuclear powers is six with another four or five countries able to become nuclear powers within months. Iran is unique. When this is combined with an Iranian society imbued with the cult of the suicide bomber, then the need to stop Irans nuclear program becomes obvious. Regime change won't be enough as the Mullahs will manufacture external distractions each whenerver their regime is threatened. A pre-emptive attack is also difficult.
